A Glimpse at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC
Every year, thousands of visitors from across the nation and even around the world flock to Washington DC to behold the spring Cherry Blossom Festival. The first cherry trees planted in the nation’s capital were a gift of friendship to the United States from Japan in 1912. Today, there are almost 3,700 cherry trees planted around DC, many of which are direct descendants of those first trees. To learn more about DC’s Cherry Blossom Festival, watch this short video clip.
